He reminded everyone to keep their email addresses and home address information up to date so that they would not miss any important notices that may be sent out.Unfinished business: Beach Jumper Memorial Executive Board Search Committee (2006) report.In short the committee decided not to pursue the placement of a Memorial for Beach Jumpers on any Navy base property as the annual maintenance costs would be cost prohibitive in future years. An alternate location was decided for Ocracoke Island, NC.New Business:Beach Jumper Memorial Marker, Ocracoke Island, N.C. Ballot/vote tally. 30 ballots were castTotaling 29 Yes, 1 Abstention. According to Roberts Rules an abstention can be counted with the majority votes, making the vote unanimous for this project proposal. •Memorial Marker drafts were displayed for the members. The marker committee approved the drafts in order that a more definitive cost can be determined for the marker. (The drafts are now displayed on the website). As more information is obtained it will be posted on the website. Both a reunion and marker unveiling are being planned for November 2009 on Ocracoke Island, NC where Beach Jumpers trained during World War II.Reunion 2009 Coordinator, Roger Mills BJU-2 .New business opened to floor, none noted.Awards / Presentations:NIOC: Certificates of Appreciation were presented to LCDR Fred Lindy III, CO; LCDR Adrian Bejar, XO; ETCS Gregory Robinson, SEL; and CTTC Anthony Beltran, OPS/POC.Certificates of Appreciation, were presented to John Spielmann, Reunion Coordinator, and to his wife Lisa, Barry Trauger, Scott Brown, Jeff Samford and a Special Certificate of Appreciation to Eileen Havekost from her husband Roy.Certificates of Recognition and Special WWII Challenge Coin presentations went to Norris Fanning, BJU-7, and Edwin Benjamins, BJU-6. Bill Cochran accepted the certificate and coin for his father Wilmer Cochran Jr., BJU-6.Carl Kilhoffer, on behalf of the Board of Directors presented Roy Havekost with a bronze statue of the ‘Lone Sailor’ in recognition of his lone efforts in the creation of the Beach Jumpers website which eventually lead to the creation of the Beach Jumpers Association.Good & Welfare: noneClosing Prayer: Members reminded to keep or troops in our prayers.
