Reunion 2004, Meeting Minutes Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center EM3 Roy Havekost, BJU2, 1967-68, Reunion Coordinator Photos for this reunion can be found on https://www.facebook.com/groups/beachjumpers The meeting was called to order at 19:15 on 17 July 2004 by President Larry Markaverich Flag Salute was led by President Markaverich Roll Call of Officers and the Board of Directors President Larry Markaverich Present Vice President Frank Moore Absent Excused Secretary Treasurer Bill Griffin Present Board of Directors Roy Havekost Present Carl Kilhoffer Absent Excused John McLeod Present Wayne Miller Present Vince Piscitelli Absent Excused Opening Remarks and Welcoming was done by Larry Markaverich President Markaverich led discussion of the Association, Articles of Association. A motion to accept the Articles was made by John McLeod and seconded by David Glaza Vote was unanimous to accept the Articles President Markaverich led discussion of the Association Bylaws. A motion to accept the Bylaws was made by David Glaza and seconded by John McLeod Vote was unanimous to accept the Bylaws Discussion of Association Dues was held A motion by David Glaza was made to set the dues for 2005 at $25. This would be a voluntary amount. This would be reassessed at the 2005 annual meeting and changed if necessary. Phil Richter seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous to accept motion. Officers Election for 2005 Roy Havekost opened the nominations for the Officers of the Association .He presented the following nominations: President Larry Markaverich, Vice President Frank Moore, and Secretary Treasurer Bill Griffin. He then opened the nominations from the floor. After three calls for nominations from the floor with no response he closed the nominations, and made a motion the slate be accepted by the members. John McLeod seconded the nominations and requested the vote be made by acclamation. The vote was made with no dissention. Board of Directors President Larry Markaverich opened the nominations for the Board of Directors. He presented the following slate. Roy Havekost, Carl Kilhoffer, John McLeod, Wayne Miller, and Vince Piscitelli. John McLeod declined the nomination due to scheduling concerns. He promised to continue to support the association in any way he can. Nominations were then opened to the floor. Dave Glaza was proposed from the floor. He accepted the nominations. After three calls for nominations from the floor by President Markaverich with no response he closed the nominations, and made a motion the slate be accepted by the members. John McLeod seconded the nominations and requested the vote be made by acclamation. The vote was made with no dissention. Committees Phil Richter will chair 2005 Reunion Committee with assistance from Roy Havekost. Historian for the Association will be Dave Glaza. Old Business Two flags that were commissioned for the unit and donated by Tim Clemente (son of Bill Clemente) were presented to the association by John McLeod and Roy Havekost. Presentation of Awards Roy Havekost presented awards and association pins to Bill Cochran and Norris Fanning as senior members of the Beach Jumpers. Roy also presented an Association Plank Certificate for Douglas Fairbanks Jr. posthumously to his widow Mrs.Vera Fairbanks. Mrs. Fairbanks was also presented with her own Associate Membership in the Beach Jumper Association. Mrs. Fairbanks accepted with a promise to return next year and was proud to be included in the association. Roy also presented John McLeod with the official Beach Jumper PIA Award. John accepted with his usual aplomb. Invocation In memory of those who have passed on, the names of known deceased Beach Jumpers was read by Roy Havekost, followed by a moment of silent prayer. Closing President Markaverich asked if there was any more business for the Association. John McLeod made a motion that the meeting be closed. Phil Richter seconded it. The motion was carried.
